Clear terms for using MarkLess responsibly.
Last updated: 6 September 2026. By creating an account or using MarkLess, you agree to these Terms.
1. The service
MarkLess is an AI-assisted ESL/EFL writing-grading platform designed to help teachers review student writing, create draft feedback, track progress and manage grading workflows.
2. Teacher review is required
MarkLess provides an AI-assisted first pass. Scores, corrections, CEFR estimates, feedback and practice activities may contain errors. Teachers remain responsible for reviewing outputs before using them for formal grading, reporting, placement or other educational decisions.
3. Accounts
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for activity performed through your account. You must provide accurate account information and must not share access in a way that bypasses plan limits or security controls.
4. Student work and permissions
You may upload only content that you are permitted to process. If student information is involved, you are responsible for complying with the policies, permissions and legal requirements that apply to your school, organization and location.
5. Acceptable use
You must not use MarkLess to violate law, infringe another person's rights, upload malicious content, attempt unauthorized access, interfere with the service, reverse-engineer protected systems, or use automated methods to evade usage limits.
6. Plans and usage limits
Free and paid plans may include monthly paper limits and feature limits. Current plan details are shown on the Pricing and Plan & usage pages. MarkLess may reasonably enforce these limits to protect service availability and operating costs.
7. Paid subscriptions
Teacher and Pro plans may renew automatically at the billing interval shown at checkout until canceled. Cancellation stops future renewal. Where the payment provider reports a paid-through date, access may continue until the end of that paid period.
8. Changes to plans or pricing
MarkLess may change features, allowances or pricing for future billing periods. Material changes affecting paid subscribers should be communicated before they take effect where reasonably possible.
9. Availability
We aim to keep MarkLess available and reliable, but uninterrupted service is not guaranteed. Maintenance, hosting issues, third-party outages, AI-provider limits and other technical events may temporarily affect availability.
10. No guarantee of grading accuracy
MarkLess does not guarantee that AI-generated grading or feedback is correct, complete or suitable for every curriculum, exam board, institution or student. Human judgment remains essential.
11. Intellectual property
You retain the rights you have in content you upload. MarkLess and its software, branding, interface and original platform materials remain the property of their respective owner(s). You receive a limited right to use the service while your account is active and compliant with these Terms.
12. Account suspension or termination
Access may be limited or suspended where necessary for security, abuse prevention, non-payment, violation of these Terms or protection of other users. Teachers may delete their account using the available account controls, subject to any active subscription requirements.
13. Limitation of responsibility
To the extent permitted by applicable law, MarkLess is provided without a guarantee that it will meet every educational, institutional or legal requirement. Users remain responsible for professional judgment and for the consequences of decisions made using the service.
14. Changes to these Terms
These Terms may be updated as the service evolves. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page identifies the current version.
